Stewart Lee Garrison Fund
The Stewart Lee Garrison Fund was established in 1990 by Philip W. Orth 1940 as a permanent memorial to Professor Stewart Lee Garrison, who, as professor of public speaking at Amherst from 1920 until 1960, skillfully introduced countless Amherst students to the art of effective public speaking. The Fund is an endowed fund; income may be used each year by the President to provide financial aid under the College’s policies then in effect to needy students who, by their participation in debate activities or otherwise, demonstrate a desire to excel at speaking in public.
