David A. Read Memorial Scholarship Fund

The David A. Read Memorial Scholarship Fund, established in 2008 by his nephew, V. Ross Read III, Class of 1973, is a permanently endowed scholarship fund at Amherst College providing financial aid to Amherst students with demonstrated financial need as determined by the Dean of Admission and Financial Aid. Preference will be given to veterans of the U.S. armed forces. David A. Read, admitted to the Class of 1947, died on December 15, 1944, in service to his country in the Battle of the Bulge, the Ardennes Forest, Belgium.
