Ferre Family Fund
The Ferre Family Fund was established in 1995 by members of the Ferre family as a permanently endowed scholarship fund at Amherst. Fund income only is to be used to provide scholarship assistance for students from Puerto Rico. It is the intent of the family both to acknowledge the importance of their Amherst educations and to provide similar opportunities for Puerto Rican young men and women who might otherwise not be able to attend the College for financial reasons. Similarly, it is the hope of the Ferre family that recipients, when in a position to do so after graduation, will themselves be moved to support others at Amherst. Designation of recipients will be made by the Dean of Financial Aid and will be based on need as determined by the College’s policies then in effect. If distributions cannot be made within the guidelines listed above, they may be made to provide scholarship aid with preference going to Hispanic students before others.
