George Lyman Crosby 1896 Memorial Scholarship Fund and Stanley Warfield Crosby, Jr. Scholarship Fund

The George Lyman Crosby 1896 Memorial Scholarship Fund and Stanley Warfield Crosby, Jr. Scholarship Fund was established in 1954 by the Crosby Memorial Foundation. Stanley W. Crosby ’13 established this foundation in memory of his son, Stanley W. Crosby, Jr., a graduate of West Point ’47, who died in Korea. Had his son not gone to West Point he would have wanted to go to Amherst. Therefore, this scholarship fund was established in memory of his brother, George L. Crosby 1896, and his son. This is the same Crosby who endowed two professorships, one in Religion and one in Philosophy. Income from the fund is awarded to needy deserving students with strong Christian interests.
