John S. Lancaster 1951 Scholarship Fund
The John S. Lancaster ‘51 Scholarship Fund was established in 1996 by members of the Amherst Association of Northern California in honor of John S. Lancaster ’51, one of the most loyal, dedicated, and earnest of Amherst’s many distinguished alumni and alumnae. Income from this permanently endowed fund is used to provide financial aid to Amherst students with demonstrated financial need as determined by the Dean of Admission and Financial Aid, who will award and administer the fund in accordance with financial aid policies and procedures set by the Board of Trustees, with a preference for students from northern California who have completed their sophomore or junior year. The preferred recipient(s) will also have demonstrated a record of superior academic achievement, and/or have demonstrated a commitment to service in the community.
