Aliki Perroti, Ambassador Ulric Haynes '52, and Seth Frank '55 Scholarship in International Relations Fund
The Aliki Perroti, Ambassador Ulric Haynes ’52, and Seth Frank ’55 Scholarship in International Relations Fund is a permanently endowed scholarship fund at Amherst College providing financial aid to Amherst students with demonstrated financial need as determined by the Dean of Admission and Financial Aid. The Scholarship honors Ambassador Haynes, who was a friend of Seth Frank throughout many decades at Amherst and several other educational and international venues, and who is perhaps best known for his service as the United States Ambassador to Algeria from 1977 to 1981, during which time he helped to negotiate the release of the American hostages from the U.S. Embassy in Iran. Primary preference is given for students with a demonstrated interest in international relations and diplomacy. Awards may be made in consultation with relevant departments in the social sciences or humanities, with preference given to American Studies; Political Science; History; Diplomacy, if it should exist in the future; or any successor departments to those described herein.
