David H. Morton and John Breckenridge Adams Scholarship
The David H. Morton and John Breckenridge Adams Scholarship Fund was established in 1974 by bequest of Virginia Adams P’44. The fund may be mingled with any other scholarship fund(s) of the College. It was her desire that the scholarships be granted on the basis of need and character and ability, and that the recipients shall, if possible, be residents of Springfield or Clark County, Ohio. In all other respects, the responsibility for the selection and appointment of candidates shall rest with Amherst. If the College is unable to find candidates who qualify, then the income of the fund may be used for general scholarship purposes. Mrs. Adams’ son was John Adams ’44 and David Morton, a member of the College faculty, was her brother.
